Well....what does one really write for the first post? I was at a dinner party recently where one of the attendees suggested how arrogant a person must be to start a blog all about themselves. Yikes! Well, here I go anyway.
As with many things in my life, I've been "planning" to start this blog for some time now. I am a great "planner." I make lots of lists and often buy whatever items I need to get started on the latest project that has caught my attention. I make a schedule and then promise to start the next day. And then....I wait. I wait for just the right time to begin, when other distractions are less present, when I have more time, when school is over, when I finish getting organized, when I have studied others' blogs for ideas, when I learn to use my camera better, when I have figured out to upload a picture to the header, when I have the proper inspiration to write, when I have figured out the perfect first post topic. As feelings of doubt and insecurities abound, paralysis often settles in for a stay.
And so I am officially beginning this blog today. The header still isn't right and I don't have everything figured out yet. I don't know when I will have the time to write and I don't know if I can commit to posting everyday. I don't even know if I have that much to say. But the wandering around is the point really, isn't it? Over the last few years, I spent a lot of time "getting through" life rather than fully engaging it. When my father died a year ago, I experienced a fundamental shift in thinking about how to approach each day. This blog is a means for holding myself accountable to living life more intentionally. While I hope (I think) at some point that others may read it, I am writing this blog for me, and for my husband, my daughter, and my friends. I hope that by taking note of those things in my life worth posting, I will also learn to be grateful and appreciative of what matters most.
I am learing to savor the breeze.
